The Best Deal

Updated: Jan 16, 2023

Twitter may be sold to Elon Musk a short time from now. While Twitter’s board initially turned down Musk’s $41 billion offer to acquire the social media giant, a report from CNN says they may be looking more closely at striking a deal with him. CNN implies that Twitter may have returned to Musk because they could not find another buyer. His may be the best offer they will receive.

What is the best move for Twitter? I cannot even pretend to know. But I see a spiritual parallel between this situation and the one facing the world regarding sin and the desire to resolve our guilt. In Acts 4, Peter and John are arrested and given a hearing by the Jewish rulers, elders, and scribes. Consider Peter’s inspired statements in Acts 4:11-12 concerning Jesus and the offer of salvation made through Him:

“[Jesus] is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

Many people have promoted the idea that there are many ways to live a faithful life, that there are many paths to salvation, and Jesus is but one of them. That is a lie. Though the search should lead into the vast expanses of unknown space, there is no other Savior to find. Jesus is the only offer for salvation that we will receive, and the offer is not paltry (1 Peter 1:17-19). Do not engage in a futile search for a better offer; take the offer of salvation through the blood of Christ! Turn from your sins, confess Jesus as Lord, and be baptized today! I may not know the best move for Twitter, but that is absolutely the best for you.
